Our kennel currently races all four race meetings at Sunderland. Since the pandemic, the usual Friday evening meeting has been postponed until further notice, and it is unknown when it will return.
The current racing schedule is as follows;
There are numerous perks to being an owner at Sunderland including the annual Owners Christmas Party Night and Durham & District Retired Greyhounds Fundraising Evening, both of which prove very popular with owners. As well as this, after signing up to the Owners Club and obtaining an Owners Pass, there are a range of different discounts unlocked on race day/night packages, and free admission to Owners who have a greyhound running on that particular meeting. The pass can be used to gain access into all Arena Racing Company owned greyhound stadia.
Sunderland is well known for being quite a tricky track with long straights, suiting more early paced types. Over the course of the week, a variety of graded races are hosted over different distances. The Standard (450m) and Sprint (261m) trips are the most commonly used, with both level break and handicap action, though there are also one or two handicap races over the more testing Stayers (640m) trip weekly.
Our kennel currently races at Newcastle twice a week, which usually covers the two weekend fixtures.
The current racing schedule is as follows:
Owners in our kennel now have the benefit of having two tracks available to race at, gaining access to the perks of being an owner at Newcastle, should they want their greyhound to race there. Newcastle is a different challenge to Sunderland in that it is a much more demanding trip, suiting stronger staying types. The 480m trip is the most commonly used, with 640m races now also regularly featuring on the card.
